JIS G4304 / G4312 SUS 301L Stainless Steel Composition & Low‑Carbon Work‑Hardening Properties
SUS 301L is the low‑carbon variant of SUS 301 stainless steel defined in JIS G4304 (hot‑rolled) and JIS G4312 (cold‑rolled). With 16–18% chromium, 6–8% nickel, and reduced carbon (≤0.03%), it offers improved weld‑zone corrosion resistance while maintaining strong work‑hardening behavior.
301L rapidly increases in strength during cold working, making it suitable for springs, clips, fasteners, automotive trim, transportation components, and reinforcement parts. Its corrosion resistance is slightly better than 301. SUS 301L is supplied as cold‑rolled sheets, strips, and coils. It is widely used in appliances, automotive components, mechanical parts, and architectural applications requiring high strength and good formability.
