JIS G4304 / G4312 SUS 201 Stainless Steel Composition & Cost‑Efficient Austenitic Properties
SUS 201 is an economical austenitic stainless steel defined in JIS G4304 / G4312. By reducing nickel and adding manganese, it forms a stable austenitic structure and becomes a typical low‑nickel stainless steel. With 16–18% chromium and 3.5–5.5% nickel, it offers good strength, formability, and corrosion resistance.
201 performs well in atmospheric and mildly corrosive environments and is widely used for kitchen equipment, appliance panels, architectural trim, transportation components, and general mechanical parts. Its strong work‑hardening response allows strength improvement through cold forming. SUS 201 is supplied as cold‑rolled sheets, strips, and coils. It is commonly used in appliances, catering equipment, decorative structures, and lightweight mechanical assemblies.
