1.4310 Stainless Steel: High‑Strength Austenitic Grade for Springs and Precision Components

1.4310 (X10CrNi18‑8) is a high‑strength austenitic stainless steel grade specified under EN 10028‑7 and EN 10088‑2. Known for its excellent work‑hardening capability, it contains approximately 17–19% chromium and 7–10% nickel, providing a combination of corrosion resistance and significant strength increase through cold working.
The grade offers outstanding formability, fatigue resistance, and elasticity, making it widely used for springs, clips, precision elastic components, medical instruments, and high‑performance mechanical parts. When cold‑rolled, 1.4310 can reach tensile strengths above 1000 MPa, outperforming standard 304 stainless steel in applications requiring high elasticity and durability.
1.4310 is supplied in cold‑rolled sheets, strips, and wires, typically in thicknesses from 0.1 to 4.0 mm. It supports stamping, bending, coiling, and other precision forming processes. Its corrosion resistance is suitable for atmospheric environments, light chemical exposure, and food‑grade applications, making it a cost‑effective stainless steel for components requiring both strength and corrosion resistance.
