1.4432 Stainless Steel Composition & High-Molybdenum Performance

1.4432 (X2CrNiMo17-12-3) is a high-molybdenum, low-carbon austenitic stainless steel grade specified under EN 10028-7 and EN 10088-2. As an enhanced version of 316L, it contains 16.5–18.5% chromium, 11–13% nickel, 2.5–3% molybdenum, and a carbon content below 0.03%.
The increased molybdenum content significantly improves resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride-containing environments. Compared with 1.4404 (316L), 1.4432 offers a higher PREN value and better performance in seawater systems, chemical plants, hygienic equipment, and high-purity installations. It maintains stable weldability and retains corrosion resistance after welding. 1.4432 is supplied as sheets, plates, strips, tubes, and bars. It is widely used in marine engineering, pharmaceutical systems, heat exchangers, pump and valve components, and architectural structures. As a high-molybdenum variant of 316L, it provides enhanced reliability in aggressive corrosive environments.
