0Cr17Ni12Mo2 stainless steel: a powerful helper for pitting corrosion resistance
0Cr17Ni12Mo2 stainless steel is a stainless steel grade in my country, and the implementation standard is GB/T 1220-2007. Its chemical composition includes carbon content ≤0.08%, chromium content 16.00 - 18.50%, nickel content 10.00 - 14.00%, and molybdenum content 2.00 - 3.00%.
The most notable feature of 0Cr17Ni12Mo2 stainless steel is that it has better corrosion resistance than 0Cr19Ni9 in seawater and various other media, and is particularly good at resisting pitting corrosion. Pitting corrosion is a localized corrosion that forms small holes on the metal surface, and the synergistic effect of chromium, nickel, molybdenum and other elements in 0Cr17Ni12Mo2 stainless steel effectively improves its resistance to this form of corrosion. It also has good comprehensive mechanical properties, tensile strength ≥520MPa, conditional yield strength ≥205MPa, elongation ≥40%, and can withstand external forces to a certain extent without damage.
In practical applications, due to its outstanding pitting resistance, 0Cr17Ni12Mo2 stainless steel is mainly used as pitting resistant material. In the field of oil extraction, the oil well environment is complex and contains various corrosive media. Some key components in oil production equipment, such as oil pipes and pump barrels, can be made of 0Cr17Ni12Mo2 stainless steel to effectively reduce equipment damage caused by pitting, extend equipment life, and reduce maintenance costs. In the chemical and pharmaceutical industry, some containers and pipelines for storing and transporting corrosive liquids will also use 0Cr17Ni12Mo2 stainless steel to ensure the safety and stability of the drug production process and avoid drug contamination due to equipment corrosion. In marine monitoring equipment, this stainless steel is also often used to manufacture parts in contact with seawater to ensure the reliability of the equipment under long-term seawater immersion. 0Cr17Ni12Mo2 stainless steel plays an important role in many fields with stringent requirements on corrosion resistance due to its pitting resistance.
