430 Grade Stainless is one of widely used “non-hardenable” stainless good physical and mechanical characteristics, about three-quarters the ductility of low carbon strip and inferior to chrome-nickel grades; cost less than chromium-nickel stainless steels. Grade 430 (UNS S43000) is the most widely used family of Ferritic alloys. It is known for its good corrosion resistance to numerous substance, excellent stress, and formability, coupled with practical mechanical properties. SS 430 has excellent resistance to citric and nitric acid, sulfur gases; slightly less corrosion and heat resistant than Types 301, 302, and 304. It can be used in certain chemical applications. SS 430 is a magnetic stainless steel. It can be formed using a large variety of roll forming or mild stretch-bending operations, as well as the more common drawing and bending processes. The steel has limited weldability and should not be used in the as welded condition for dynamic or impact loaded structures.
