4140 Annealed Alloy Steel Round Bars

BEBON has 4140 annealed alloy steel round bars in stock. 4140 material is an alloy steel that contains measurable amounts of carbon, molybdenum, silicon, phosphorus, sulfur, chromium and manganese. These elements are added in order to achieve specific properties. 4140 alloy steel bars is noted for its toughness, good torsional strength and good fatigue strength.
4140 round bar has Brinnell Hardness–180/235BHN.
4140 round bar may be supplied in an annealed or prehardened condition. The carbon content helps to make the steel capable of being heat treated. The chromium, manganese and molybdenum add toughness and strength.
Machinability of this alloy is good in the annealed condition. In the heat treated and quenched condition, machining is best limited to finish grinding. We can offer 4140 Cold Drawn Annealed round bars and 4140 hot rolled annealed round bars. These alloys have good ductility, but are tougher than plain carbon steel and thus usually require more force, or pressure, for forming. 4140 Alloy Steel Round Bar is weldable by all of the conventional methods. Note that welding with the alloy in the heat treated condition will affect the mechanical properties and a post weld heat treatment may be needed.
By normalizing 4140 round bar, it helps to remove stress within the steel. By annealing 4140 steel bar, it makes the material softer and easier to machine. 4140 round bar may be supplied as hot rolled, cold drawn, and polished. We can offer 4140 annealed alloy steel round bars with diameter up to 1000mm.
Applications
4140 alloy steel bar responds well to heat treatment, and is relatively easy to machine in the annealed condition. 4140 Annealed Round Bars can be used in a wide variety of machined parts. With its moderately simple composition, strength and toughness, 4140 steel bar is used in a variety of machined applications such as gears, bolts and fasteners.
